To 2021 And Improved Health

The post below was written on Tuesday before the violence broke out at the Capitol. I would be remiss not to say something about this tragic situation. We are a country of laws. One of the hallmarks of our country is the peaceful transition of power. To stand in the way of this process is no less than sedition. People responsible should be arrested and prosecuted. I hope I have not offended anyone, but I believe it’s important to speak truth as I see it. God have mercy on our country.

Thank goodness we’ve arrived in 2021.  While some good things happened in 2020, most of us would agree we’re glad to see that year gone. We’re not out of the woods by a long shot but thank goodness for the vaccine. We’re making progress, even if its not as fast as we’d all like. But we can see the light at the end of this deadly long tunnel. Thank God for the wonderful hospital personnel who have fought with all their might and strength to keep people alive.

Are you able to sign up for the vaccine in your state? My husband and several of our friends are signed up, and now we’re waiting to hear when we can actually show up for the shot. Whenever and wherever that is, we’ll be there. And yes, we’ll continue to wear our masks when we go out. Bob got me the really strong ones. If I’m going where I’ll see more people for a longer period of time-like shopping at the grocery store-that’s the mask I wear rather than the cute ones, even the cute ones with a filter. The latest strain of the virus is so much more contagious than the original one was, and it was pretty strong.

But as I said at the beginning, thank heavens for this new year. Do you make resolutions or set goals? I set goals. This year they include:

Finish and release my 9th book—the one set near Christmas in New Hampshire and hopefully in November.

From my friend Klaran Warner who lives in New Hampshire, an inspiration for the new book.

Continue with Noom and work on living a healthier lifestyle which includes getting my 10 K steps every day and doing Pilates three times a week. I do miss going to my daughter’s studio, but I’m proud I’ve kept up on my own with this wonderful practice.

Salmon with butternut squash, green beans, walnuts, and cherries from my friend Janet Glasser who you’ll get to hear from later this month. 🙂

Get finished cleaning out our garage and the boxes in our house. I know we’re going on 6 years here, and there are still boxes to go through. But I’ve made a real dent recently, throwing out and giving away. One of the major challenges has been going through photos. Yes, we have the old timey kind from the decade of the 90s. I got too busy to do anything with them except put them in boxes. Divvying them up between family members has been satisfying and made more space for us.

Giving away books hurts, but most of our walls are windows looking out at the lake. Sacrifices are required to live in such an amazing place.
Years and years of Calendars.
Boxes of the Steno Notebooks that I used to keep all my todo lists and places to be before I used the calendars.
Pictures were in the two containers and a large box. On the hearth are pics for my two daughters. It was really fun to look through these pics. While I kept too many, I threw away more.

Go on a trip to Maine. This would be in the fall and is of course dependent on how many folks get vaccinated. Fingers crossed.

From the balcony of a Boothbay Harbor cottage we’ve rented twice.

Giveaways: I plan to give away an e-copy of each of my eight books not quite once a month, but over the year, culminating with the release of the 9th book around about November or December. To be entered in the drawing you just need to respond to my Newsletter which goes out monthly. I’ll give more directions in the January Newsletter and the first Giveaway will be in February. There will also be various on-line events during the year, and you can be sure I’ll keep you posted on those.

Do you make resolutions or set goals? Do you keep up with stuff as you go a long or does it take you being struck with the clean out bug? Be safe, wear your mask, and I’d love to hear from you. 😊
